Douglas S. Butler, CFA, CFP

Mr. Butler has worked in the investment business since 1991. As the Director of Research, he is responsible for the equity research process and manages the research analyst team. Mr. Butler is also responsible for developing asset allocation models, selecting external investment managers, and developing new investment products. Prior to coming to Rockland Trust, Mr. Butler had a consulting business, specializing in Mergers and Acquisitions consulting for private manufacturing firms in the Chicago area. Prior to starting his own business, he worked for Sanford C. Bernstein as an Equity Portfolio Manager in their International Investment Management group. Mr. Butler is a CFA charterholder and has also received his designation as a Certified Financial Planner™. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the Boston Security Analysts Society, and the Williams Club. Mr. Butler is a graduate of Trinity College.
Chris Cao, Ph.D., CFA

Chris Cao is a member of the firm’s Quantitative Management Equity Team and is responsible for portfolio management for the Enhanced Core, Enhanced Core Growth and Enhanced Core Value strategies. Chris has over seven years of investment experience. Prior to joining Babson Capital in 2001, he worked at Aeltus Investment Management and more recently at INVESCO. Chris holds a B.S. from Wuhan University, an M.S. from both Beijing Institute of Technology and Boston College, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Michigan. Chris is also a member of the CFA Institute.
Eric S. Connerly, CFA

Mr. Connerly was named Director of Research for Robeco Boston Partners in 2007. In this role, he oversees all fundamental and quantitative stock research. Eric joined Boston Partners in 1998 as an analyst and has covered the financial services, energy and technology industries in addition to managing a merger arbitrage fund and a traditional equity long/short fund.
Prior to his employment at Boston Partners, he worked for John Hancock Mutual Funds in Boston and New York and SEI in suburban Philadelphia, where he oversaw their Small Cap Growth and Small Cap Value strategies. He holds a BSFS in Development Economics from Georgetown School of Foreign Service and an MBA in Security Analysis from Columbia Business School. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Society of Security Analysts.
Arup Datta, CFA

Arup joined Numeric in 1993 as a Quantitative Analyst. In addition to serving as the head of one of Numeric’s product groups, Arup is responsible for the portfolio management of the Core, Multi-Cap Core, Large Cap Core, Growth, Value and Amplified Core (130/30) strategies. Arup participates in the firm’s ongoing research into its Fair Value, Quality of Earnings and Estrend models, and risk control techniques. Before entering business school, Arup was a Project Engineer working for a privately held electric utility in eastern India. Arup received an M.B.A. with distinction from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. Arup is a CFA charterholder.
Kevin Divney

Mr Divney is Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Beaconcrest Capital Management, LLC. Beaconcrest was formed in 2009 to manage diversified long-short equity strategies for Institutional and High Net Worth clients. The firm philosophy is to provide superior risk adjusted returns while maintaining a capital preservation focus. Beaconcrest integrates a fundamental and quantitative approach to stock picking, while using a robust risk management framework as the foundation for portfolio construction.
Prior to founding Beaconcrest, Mr. Divney worked at Putnam Investments from 1997 to 2008. He was initially hired to develop its risk management platform, enabling more sophisticated and real time risk analysis by portfolio managers as well as firm management. In 2000, Mr. Divney transitioned into portfolio management as a Senior Portfolio Manager for the US Core Team. It was here that his Quantitative Stock Ranking methodologies were enhanced, and combined with the fundamental research effort at Putnam. As part of the Core team, Mr. Divney functioned as the portfolio manager of various Putnam mutual funds including the Putnam Voyager Fund and lead manager of the Putnam Tax Smart Equity Fund. From 2005-2008, Mr. Divney served as the Chief Investment Officer of the Mid Cap Growth team, managing up to $8 billion of Large Cap and Mid Cap growth strategies that included Mutual Funds and Institutional Portfolios.
Prior to Putnam, Mr. Divney worked at Franklin Portfolio Associates from 1993-1997, a boutique asset manager, as a Quantitative Equity Analyst and Portfolio Manager of International and US Equity portfolios. At Franklin, he first began to integrate his Quantitative Stock Ranking methodologies with a fundamental approach to stock picking. As manager of the International Equity portfolio at Franklin, Mr. Divney oversaw the growth of assets from $30MM to $800MM from institutional clients.
Mr. Divney is a Chartered Financial Analyst, received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Boston University and an MBA from Northeastern University.
John Krowas
Vice President, Quantitative Products

Mr. Krowas has an extensive product development background and significant experience using cutting-edge quantitative investment management and equity trading software. In his role as Vice President of Quantitative Products, he oversees the continual analysis, development, and enhancement of Capital IQ’s quantitative investment management and research solutions.
Prior to joining Capital IQ, Mr. Krowas was the Director of Advanced Trading Solutions at Macgregor where he was responsible for assisting clients in integrating algorithmic and analytical trading technology into Macgregor’s Trade Order Management System. Mr. Krowas also held several senior-level management positions at Investment Technology Group (ITG). As a member of ITG’s Analytical Products and Research group, he led the Client Service team in supporting optimization and risk control software for portfolio construction and program trading.
Previously, Mr. Krowas was at Charter Oak Investments Systems, and before that, he worked for Control Systems Analysis, Inc. as part of the Independent Software Nuclear Safety and Analysis team for the US Navy’s submarine-launched nuclear Tomahawk program. Mr. Krowas holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering and applied science from the California Institute of Technology. He also studied materials science and engineering as part of a graduate program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
John J. Perkins

Mr. Perkins is the Chairman of the City of Boston Pension Fund where he has served as a Trustee since 1997.
From 1984 to 2004 he served as President and Chairman of International Insurance Group, Ltd. From 1974 to 1984 he served as President of Corroon & Black of Massachusetts, Inc. From 1970 to 1974 he served as Vice President of Marsh & McLennan, Inc.
Mr. Perkins is also President of Somerset Corporate Advisors, a financial advisory firm. He is on the board of directors of Velocity Express, Westport, Connecticut and serves as a member of the Audit Committee. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Board of Glasshouse Technologies, Framingham, Massachusetts; Aircuity Inc., Newton, Massachusetts; and Tuckerbrook Alternative Investments, Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Perkins is a graduate of Boston College and resides in Boston.
Mr. Perkins is a frequent speaker at investment conferences throughout the United States.
Kevin W. Shea, CFA

Mr. Shea has worked in the investment industry since 1995. He is the Director of Quantitative Research at Cadence Capital Management. Cadence manages Large Cap, Mid Cap, Small Cap and Micro Cap Growth strategies. Prior to joining Cadence, he was a Portfolio Manager at Batterymarch Financial Management, Inc., as well as Founding Partner, CIO, and Portfolio Manager of DA Capital Management, LLC. Earlier positions include Portfolio Manager at Invesco Capital Management and Quantitative Analyst at John Hancock Funds.
Mr. Shea holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of Notre Dame, a Master’s in Biology from Harvard University and an M.B.A. in Finance and International Business from Boston College. He is a member of the CFA Institute, the Boston Security Analyst Association, QWAFAFEW, and the Q Group.
