Andrew Alford
Managing Director

Andrew is responsible for the US equity portfolios as well as the Flex (130/30) equity long-short strategies managed by the Quantitative Investment Strategies group at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Previously, Andrew was the group’s Director of Equity Research. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 1998, Andrew was an accounting professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, and then the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He has also served as an academic fellow in the Office of Economic Analysis at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington DC. Andrew has a BS in Information and Computer Science from the University of California at Irvine, and an MBA and a PhD from the Booth Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.
Tony Barkan
Principal and Portfolio Manager

Tony Barkan is a Principal and Portfolio Manager at Seer Capital Management. Seer manages hedge funds and separate accounts focused on the Securitized Product sectors of the Fixed Income markets. Mr. Barkan is responsible for securities trading and sits on the Investment and Business Committees with the other Principals and Officers of Seer. Prior to helping start Seer, Mr. Barkan was at Sailfish Capital Partners where he managed a profitable short-biased ABS, MBS and Corporate Credit portfolio within the main Sailfish G2 hedge fund and was the Head of Structured Investment Management which leveraged Sailfish’s fundamental credit expertise to manage long term structured investment and other non-hedge fund vehicles. At Sailfish, Mr. Barkan also took on the responsibility for unwinding $5 billion in distressed securitized products in the fund’s long-only portfolios. Prior to joining Sailfish, Mr. Barkan created a fixed-income platform at Harbert Management Corporation (HMC), building a team of 10 senior trading, research and operations professionals. At HMC, Mr. Barkan’s long-short investment strategy focused on the MBS, ABS, CDO and Corporate Credit markets. Mr. Barkan joined the hedge fund industry in 2001 at the Clinton Group, where he ran the Structured Credit business including the RMBS, ABS, CDO, CMBS and Corporate Correlation sectors. At Clinton, Mr. Barkan built a 14-person team that managed almost $1 billion in hedge fund capital, over $5 billion in CDO portfolios, $3 billion in bank portfolio allocations and almost $20 billion in gross long and short positions. Prior to joining the Clinton Group, Mr. Barkan was the Senior Portfolio Manager for MBS and ABS at Forstmann-Leff (later Pareto Partners). Before moving to the buy-side, Mr. Barkan worked as a trader from 1988-1997 at Salomon Brothers, the J. Aron Group and ED&F Man. Mr. Barkan earned a B.A. from Princeton in 1988.
Adrian Devenyi, Ph.D.

Adrian Devenyi is a Portfolio Manager specializing in Emerging Markets at Elliott Management Corporation in New York. His primary areas of investment activity are credit and equity strategies in Latin America and Eastern Europe, with an emphasis on special situations and distressed investments. Adrian joined Elliott in 2006, and previously worked at Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Goldman Sachs. Adrian earned a PhD in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has Master of Science and Master of Philosophy degrees from Yale University.
Richard Gardiner

Richard Gardiner is Head of Relative Value within Hedge Fund Research of Man Investments’ multi-manager business and is based in New York City, New York, USA. Prior to his current responsibilities, Richard headed Man Glenwood’s Relative Value team. The team was responsible for the due diligence and monitoring of portfolio investments within relative value which included convertible arbitrage, capital structure, fixed income arbitrage, market neutral, derivatives and multi-strategy managers. He originally joined Man Investments as an Investment Manager for London-based Man Global Strategies.
Prior to joining Man in 2006, Richard was a convertible bond salesman at J.P. Morgan where he covered hedge funds from 2001-2005. He began his career on the convertible bond desk at Goldman Sachs where he worked from 1993-2000 covering many of the firm’s largest clients.
Richard received his B.A. from Yale University and his MBA from Harvard University.
Michael Goldstein
Partner, Portfolio Manager
Lord Abbett
Michael Goldstein, Partner and Portfolio Manager in Lord Abbett’s taxable fixed-income group, specializes in high-yield corporate bonds. As a senior investment professional, his primary responsibility is to help direct and implement Lord Abbett’s high-yield investment strategy for the firm’s institutional and retail products, including the Lord Abbett Bond Debenture Fund and the Lord Abbett High Yield Fund, among other products that include high-yield bond allocations.
Mr. Goldstein began his career in the financial services industry in 1990. He joined Lord Abbett in 1997 as a High Yield Bond Trader and Credit Analyst with responsibility for airlines, aerospace/ defense, and homebuilders. He also performed fundamental research in the cable, energy, and telecommunications industries. During his tenure, Mr. Goldstein also developed analytical tools for portfolio management and made performance presentations to financial consultants, institutional investors, and regional sales managers. He was named a Partner in 2002. Prior to joining Lord Abbett, Mr. Goldstein was an Assistant Vice President and high-yield Bond Trader and Securities Analyst with BEA Associates, a unit of Credit Suisse Asset Management. His previous experience includes Associate-Global Securities Services for the Chase Manhattan Bank.
Mr. Goldstein has been quoted by Bloomberg News Service and other media about the high-yield securities market. He also serves on the Board of Education for the Closter, New Jersey, school district. Mr. Goldstein earned an MBA from New York University and a BA in economics and political science from the State University of New York in Binghamton.
Jorge Mariscal

Jorge Mariscal is a Partner and Director of Investment Research at The Rohatyn Group, a New York-based asset management company focused on global emerging markets. He has over 23 years of experience in international financial markets, with 20 years specifically dedicated to emerging markets. His expertise is in fundamental research and portfolio strategy. Mr. Mariscal has served in senior positions on Wall Street with extensive experience in building and managing top-ranked investment research teams and advising portfolio managers.
Prior to joining The Rohatyn Group, Mr. Mariscal was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in charge of coordinating the firm’s global emerging markets research product and portfolio strategy. From 1992 to 2001, he and his team were frequently named to the prestigious “Institutional Investor Latin American Research Team” as well as other similar polls. While at Goldman Sachs, he also founded and directed the Latin America Equity Research Group. Prior to this, Mr. Mariscal held senior positions at The Nomura Research Institute where he led the Latin American economic and equity research effort. He also served as a Vice President on the sovereign debt restructuring desk of Manufacturers Hanover Trust and began his career at Merrill Lynch, working with the firm’s Chief Economist.
Mr. Mariscal was born and raised in Mexico City. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University.
Keith Parker

Keith Parker is a Strategist at Deutsche Bank and Head of Alternative Equity Strategies. As part of the US Equity Strategy research team, he assists in the development of top-down views on US equity markets, allocation strategies and stock selection as well as the coordination of sector/stock views across company analysts. He was appointed Head of Alternative Equity Strategies in 2008 to oversee Deutsche Bank’s portfolio of company analysts’ short-term, high conviction stock picks and develop additional fundamental and quantitative strategies for internal and external clients. Prior to his current role, Keith worked in the Alternative Investment Strategies group, where he developed strategies for the proprietary trading desk based on fundamental and quantitative research principles.
Keith started his career at Deutsche Bank in Global Corporate Finance in 2000, executing many equity, debt and M&A transactions for both the Consumer and Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging groups. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Keith was a consultant at Deloitte & Touche, concentrating on middle market companies.
Keith earned an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. Keith is also a certified public accountant.
