Eric E. Alt

Eric Alt is a Managing Director, Co-Director of Research, and Head of the Absolute Return group which covers credit, distressed, and absolute return investments. He is also a member of the Firm’s Investment Review Committee.
Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Alt spent four years as a Managing Director in convertible securities at Piper Jaffray & Co. in San Francisco. Previously, he worked for Robertson Stephens, most recently as a Managing Director in the convertible securities department. While at Piper Jaffray & Co. and Robertson Stephens, Mr. Altwas involved in over 100 convertible new issue and restructuring transactions. Prior to joining Robertson Stephens in 1997, Mr. Alt was a principal in an entrepreneurial venture and also worked at Kluge & Company, a private investment firm, where he focused on venture investments. He started his career in 1989 at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas as a Certified Public Accountant in the firm’s Real Estate Advisory Group.
Mr. Alt graduated summa cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin and earned an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.
Allison A. Bennington

Allison A. Bennington is the General Counsel and a Partner of ValueAct Capital. Prior to joining ValueAct Capital in April 2004, Mrs. Bennington was the General Counsel of Atriax, Ltd. (“Atriax”), a joint venture of Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan Chase, Citibank and Reuters that was formed to establish a global foreign exchange internet trading market. Prior to joining Atriax, Mrs. Bennington was a Managing Director of Robertson Stephens, a full service investment bank, where she ran the Legal Department. Mrs. Bennington was previously a Partner in the London office of Brobeck Hale and Dorr International, where she specialized in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. Mrs. Bennington is a director of Seitel Inc. She has a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley and a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Carson Boneck, CFA

Mr. Boneck is managing director of Capital IQ’s Quantitative Research Group which specializes in uncovering new anomalies and differentiated stock selection strategies that investors can exploit to outperform the market. Previously, he was a director and senior quantitative analyst at Quantitative Services Group and a quantitative analyst at Schwab Soundview Capital Markets and its predecessor firm, where he constructed stock selection models used by more than 100 institutional investment managers. Mr. Boneck began his career in investment management as a manager of a boutique investment consultancy which performed third-party equity valuation for investment banks, investment managers, and Fortune 100 companies. He serves as chairman of the Candidate Services Advisory Group of the CFA Society of Chicago. Mr. Boneck holds a BA degree in finance, international business, and Spanish from Indiana University.
Dr. Jeremy Evnine

Dr. Jeremy Evnine founded Evnine & Associates (EvA), a quantitative hedge fund, in 1992 and has served as CEO and Head of Research since the firm’s inception. Prior to founding EvA, Jeremy was Head of Research for six years at Wells Fargo Investment Advisors (WFIA, now BlackRock). In this capacity, he worked with Fischer Black, Myron Scholes and Bill Sharpe and was a pioneer in the development of WFIA’s derivative strategies. He also successfully managed $13bn in portfolio insurance strategies through Black Monday. Jeremy began his career in finance in 1980 as an early employee at BARRA where he developed BARRA’s options risk and valuation system.
Jeremy earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research and Finance at UC Berkeley in 1984, an M.Sc. in Pure Mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a B.Sc. in Mathematics at Manchester University. He has taught courses in finance at UC Berkeley, published articles in financial literature on option pricing and tactical asset allocation and is recognized as an expert in quantitative investment both domestically and abroad.
Russell Fuller, CFA, PhD

Russ is founder and president of the firm and oversees its research and investment activities. His three-decade long experience spans academic research to investment management. Prior to establishing Fuller & Thaler, Russ worked at two investment management firms, and began his investment career as a security analyst with a brokerage firm that later merged with Paine Webber. In the academic field, his last position was Chairman of the Finance Department at Washington State University. He has also held positions at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Russ has published an investment textbook and numerous journal articles. He has served on the editorial board for the Financial Analysts Journal and is currently on the advisory board for the Journal of Portfolio Management. Russ received the Graham & Dodd award from the Association for Investment Management and Research for his paper entitled “Predictability Bias.” He has served on the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of San Francisco and in 2006 was presented with their Distinguished Member Award in appreciation of his leadership and dedication to the financial community. Russ received his BA, MBA and PhD (in finance) from the University of Nebraska, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a shareholder of the firm and Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Timothy Garry

Tim Garry is the risk manager of Passport Capital and a member of the portfolio management team. He joined Passport in December 2007 as a portfolio manager focused on quantitative strategies and market timing algorithms. Prior to joining Passport, Tim was a Vice President and quantitative portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors (SSgA) in the Absolute Return Strategies Group where he managed the US Market Neutral Fund. He was also a portfolio manager on the SSgA Energy Fund.
He received a MS in Finance from Boston College in 2006. He received an AB in Philosophy and English from Boston College in 2000. He is a CFA charter holder and a member of the Boston Security Analyst’s Society.

James C. McKee, Senior Vice President and Director, Hedge Fund Research Group. Jim specializes in hedge fund research addressing related issues of asset allocation, manager structure, manager search, and performance evaluation for Callan’s institutional clients. Jim is a shareholder of the firm.
Jim joined Callan Associates in 1989. Prior to his career at Callan Associates, Jim worked with the Pacific Stock Exchange (PSE) from 1982 to 1989. Until 1985, Jim worked on the PSE’s options trading floor. Thereafter, as manager of the PSE’s securities research department, he was responsible for developing and monitoring new stock, bond, and option listings.
Jim earned a B.A. in Economics/Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College in 1982. He received his M.B.A. in Finance from Golden Gate University in 1987. His graduate studies focused particularly on publicly traded securities and capital markets.
Edgar E. Peters

Ed Peters is a co-head of First Quadrant’s global macro research function. He is involved in all aspects of product development: model building, risk measurement, risk allocation, and portfolio optimization. Prior to joining First Quadrant he spent 23 years with PanAgora Asset Management where he was, over time, an equity portfolio manager, Director of Tactical Asset Allocation, Chief Investment Officer of Macro Investments, and Chief Investment Officer. Prior to joining PanAgora, Ed was Investment Technology Manager at Interactive Data Corporation and an equity analyst/trader at Mutual Benefit Life. He has lectured extensively in the classroom as well as in conference settings. The author of numerous articles in investment journals, Ed is also the author of three books: Chaos and Order in the Capital Markets (Wiley, 1991, 1996), Fractal Market Analysis (Wiley, 1994), and Patterns in the Dark (Wiley, 1999). Ed holds an MBA from Rutgers University.
Tad Rivelle

Prior to joining TCW, Tad Rivelle developed MetWest’s long-term economic outlook and was responsible for macro-level investment strategies for MetWest’s traditional and nontraditional fixed income portfolios. Under Tad’s leadership, the MetWest investment team was recognized as Morningstar’s Fixed Income Manager of the Year for 2005. Prior to founding MetWest, Tad was co-director of fixed income at Hotchkis and Wiley. He was also a portfolio manager and vice president at PIMCO. Tad holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Yale University, a master’s degree in applied mathematics from University of Southern California, and an M.B.A. from UCLA Anderson.
Jeff Shen

Jeff Shen, PhD, Managing Director, is head of Asian and Emerging Market Equity within BlackRock’s Scientific Equity Portfolio Management Group.
Dr. Shen’s service with the firm dates back to 2004, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was responsible for managing Asian and Emerging Market equity products. Prior to joining BGI, he was the global head of macro absolute return product at JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management, where he was responsible for asset allocation research and macro investment. Dr. Shen began his career in 1997, working in portfolio advisory, fund of hedge funds and risk management research functions for JP Morgan in New York and London. In addition, he is an adjunct professor at NYU teaching MBA classes on international investment.
